Chaya Chavez, MBA, CCS, CPC, CIRCC, CCC, CRC

Associate Director, Coding

Prior to joining MCRA, Chaya served in several coding leadership roles, overseeing specialized coding teams at a prominent hospital system in the Pacific Northwest. Leveraging her own coding and consulting experience and knowledge, she successfully mentored new coders and developed new teams with a passion for reducing coding-related denials and recovering millions of dollars in unrealized professional and hospital revenue. She has extensive experience in partnerships with clinical research trials, and finding successful coding solutions for new technology, devices, and drugs. Chaya specializes in AI technology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, cardiology, general & vascular surgery, and interventional radiology.

Chaya received her Master of Healthcare Business Administration from Western Governor’s University and her Bachelor of Sciences and Arts from Northern Michigan University.

She has the following certified coding credentials: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC), Certified Cardiology Coder (CCC), and Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) awarded by the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) and American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

At MCRA, Chaya is responsible for providing expert coding analysis and education that supports MCRA’s clients’ needs by providing thorough coding assessments for reimbursement and market access landscape assessments.  She works collaboratively with MCRA’s various teams to prepare and present coding-related deliverables. She regularly attends the CPT Editorial Panel Meetings and has been successful in numerous coding and payment applications (CPT, PLA, ICD-10-PCS, NTAP, and HCPCS).
